This is an older Tamaya Sextant, serial # 3802, made in Japan. This sextant has 2 scopes: one 4 x 6 and the 2nd the 8" long. The spring on the arm (index bar) needs to be replaced as does the index mirror. Filters and shades are excellent and overall this sextant is in good shape and an excellent buy.

A very nice Tamaya Sextant, serial # 25198, believed to date from 1969. The Certificate of Examination (1969) shows the sextant to be free from material error. The index arm is a little stiff and the holder for the index mirror is missing some paint. The mirrors are excellent. The shades and filters are excellent. Overall this is a very good used sextant. The scope is 7 x 35. The box is sturdy but shows wear. A local merchant sailor came home from the sea.
