The brass hub shaft hole is: 1 1/16" and the brass hub thickness is: 2.5", "John Hastie & Co Ltd, Greenock", Engraved on hub. The Extra shipping charges are a result of the wheel box being oversize. This is a beautiful wheel!!   But only for interior decorative use.
